Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell (born in New York City) is a American television journalist, commentator and anchor for NBC News based at Washington D.C. Mitchell holds a bachelor's degree in English language from University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell began her career in the field of radio and television reporter in Philadelphia, KYW Radio and TV. Mitchell was a reporter at the CBS affiliate WDVM-TV, (then WTOP) located which was based in Washington DC. She joined NBC News Washington two years later as general reporter. 1981 was the year she began reporting on for the White House, and in 1988 was named chief congressional correspondent. Mitchell became the Chief White House reporter in 1992 as well as chief foreign affairs reporter for NBC News. Mitchell was an anchor and a panelist on the TV news program Meet the Press. She served as a panelist in the 1988 presidential debates between George Bush and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married with Alan Greenspan, former Chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell was awarded the Goldsmith Career Award in 2005 by the John F. Kennedy School of Government for excellence in the field of journalism. In 2004, The Radio-Television News Directors Association gave Mitchell the Leonard Zeidenberg Award to recognize of her contributions to protecting First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell covered the White House first for NBC News between the years 1981-88, which was during Ronald Reagan's two terms as president. Mitchell covered a variety of notable news reports, including arm control, budget taxes and the Iran Contra scandal. Mitchell also went to various summits while in the company of President Reagan with Mikhail Gorbachev.
